Profile: Dasien has absolutely no idea how she got her super strength, and quite frankly, she doesn't care. She's a hero, and she's willing to kick some bad guy butt whenever necessary! Dasien's alter ego is Michelle Knight, a popular writer for Century Magazine and teammate Parker Lynn Bailey, writer for the Stratford City Tribune. Parker is the only one who knows Dasien's secret! Dasien's abilities, the result of genetic engineering, are quite remarkable. The composition of her muscles are deceptively lean for the power they pack. She can lift the weight of a dump truck and outrun a cheatah. She's also quite nimble and can execute very flashy moves, which she often shows off for no other reason than to look cool. Michelle loves her powers, but sometimes she just wants to be a normal girl. She uses her dual identity to escape the trials of tribulations of being a super-sexy superhero. Or maybe she's a hero to escape being a regular girl. Who knows? Although maskless, Dasien owes the secrecy of her identity to a convenient vigilante law. Although the law was not written for urban heroes in mind, it none the less provides protection against revealing a superhero's identity, punishable as an act of treason. The law was actually written at a time of war, when costumed super beings were commonly used for infiltration. Although many hero identities are on file, the information remains top secret, and very few government personel are allowed access. Superhuman Powers: Elevated strength, power, speed, and reflexes. Resistant to injury. Rapid healing. Source of Powers and Weaknesses: Although completely unaware, Dasien derives her powers from a genetic miracle retrovirus that replaced a section of her normal DNA with engineered super DNA. When she was only an infant, the viral agent was injected into her body, which turned her into the mighty female powerhouse she is today. Her only limits are that of fear and inhibition. She is far more capable than even she is aware of. Background: Dasien's design can be attributed to lingerie magazines; particularly Frederick's of Hollywood. Special Appearances: Dasien made an appearance at Supercon in the July 30 episode of Tao of Geek. She also appears in a picture on the wall in Episode 2-14 of The Great Vagueness. Name Meanings and Puns: Dasien (DAS-ee-en) was formed from the word "dashing" (i.e., heroic). As it turned out, another word, Dasein (DAH-zyne, Also note: spelling) was revealed to be a German word meaning "existence." This became the name of the virus in the story. "Dasein" and "Dasien" are NOT typos of one another, so pay close attention to how each of them is spelled. While they are related to each other in the tale, I'll reveal how that works much later. |
