Profile: Eugene Mähdrescher was the core of the Dasein Projects. His breakthroughs broke many barriers in genetic assembly and demonstrated how a functioning genome could be as readily assembled as common building blocks.
As far as making a successful creature, however, Mähdrescher's research was flawed. His attempts to assemble a superhuman genome from scratch were considered wasteful and seriously jeopardized all funding. The success of his project relied too heavily on the success of a single genome. The only way to spread the gene, outside of the subject breading on its own, was to actually clone the original specimen. Besides, Mähdrescher's results were seldom recognizable masses of organic tissue. He was removed from the project he had pioneered, leaving his former assistant to take over. Ashamed, he disappeared without a trace. His whereabouts are unknown to this day. |
